Shugo Chara!

Hello, everyone!

I’m sorry for not posting for a while, so, here’s a long treat for you all to enjoy!  This week’s topic?  It’s Shugo Chara!

Shugo Chara is anime series based off of the manga revolving around pre-teen Amu Hinamori.  She’s a transfer to Seiyo Academy… and people think of her as “cool and spicy”. She has short, pink hair, often accessorized with a pink cross clip or two.  Her mother’s fashion sense also adds to this “cool and spicy” persona, for she has a punk-like fashion style.  But on the inside – she’s really just a shy, normal girl!  Well, she isn’t all that normal…

At her school, to others, she apparently is unapproachable… for an amount of time, that is, so, she doesn’t have any friends.  All that is changed when she meets the Guardians, a group of energetic students from Seiyo Academy.  This group is formed to help maintain the good of the school.  Their tasks include surveying, watering the flower beds, and filling out paperwork of sorts.  These joyous people become Amu’s friends, and Amu becomes more open.  The people of this group are:

  • Tadase Hotori: King’s Chair – Guardian Character: Kiseki
  • Rima Mashiro: Queen’s Chair – Guardian Character: Kusukusu
  • Nagihiko Fujisaki: Jack’s Chair – Guardian Character: Rhythm
  • Yaya Yuiki: Ace’s Chair – Guardian Character: Pepe

Although she refuses at first, Amu becomes a member as well:

  • Amu Hinamori: Joker’s Chair – Guardian Characters: Ran, Miki, Su, and later, Dia

Former members:

  • Nadeshiko Fujisaki: Queen’s Chair – Guardian Character: Temari
  • Kuukai Souma: Jack’s Chair – Guardian Character: Daichi
  • Kairi Sanjo: Jack’s Chair – Guardian Character: Musashi

So, now you know some more about the Guardians, are you wondering, “What are Guardian Characters?”?  The answer is that these Guardian Characters are their would-be selves.  Don’t get these little guys mixed up with the Guardians.  Guardian Characters hatch from hearts’ eggs, an egg of a person, which also holds children’s dreams.  The birth of these tiny fairies is when a strong emotion causes their heart’s egg to become the egg of a Guardian Character, which, obviously, hatches at one point.  These Characters assist their Character Bearer in reaching their dreams.  Usually, people have one GC (Guardian Character), but, in some cases, more.  For instance, people with two GCs are Utau Hoshina and Nagihiko/Nadeshiko Fujisaki.  Amu has a special case, for she has four GCs.

GCs can give their owner extended abilities in Character Changes or Character Transformations.  Character Changes only give their bearer limited powers, and wear off after a matter of time.  During a Character Change, the owner will have some indication that they have Character Changed.  In Character Transformation, the GC goes within the person they will transform with and makes the owner have much stronger abilities.  GCs can Character Transform with whomever they want to Transform with, but, if not with their own bearer, it will use a lot of the energy of the human being transformed with.

I know Guardian is spelled incorrectly. Credit for this picture goes to original owner.
